Casting Call for Student Film (please email to anyone you know who might be interested!)
Shoot dates: January 17, 18 and 19 (Sat, Sun, Mon)
Description of film:
Docudrama combining protest footage, animation and live-action shot on 16mm film. The film is about police oppression at protests and the courage it takes to participate in these dangerous situations. I intend to enter into major international and local film festivals.
I have been directing and producing films for ten years and this is for my first year film for the MFA program at SF State. Food and travel expenses will be paid for.
Auditions: Saturday, December 13th from 10-2:00 pm (if this is not possible, I can hold auditions for you on a different day). Call backs will be scheduled after the first audition.
Zoe
Lead / Female / Caucasian / 20 - 30 years
Zoe is the lead character. She is a budding video activist who encounters police brutality as she covers a protest. She should look young and hip per San Francisco in 2003. She is a lesbian and is politically aware. She is a bit shy and worried about going to a protest by herself.
Calvin
Supporting / Female / All Ethnicities / 20 - 30 years
Description: This is the girlfriend (lesbian) of the lead character. Should have a somewhat boyish look. Not a speaking part at this time, but the script may change.
Wardrobe: t-shirt and boxers (she is sleeping during the scene)
Fairygodmother Simone
Lead / Female / All Ethnicities / 55 - 70 years
Description: This fairygodmother appears a few times, but is mostly an off-screen voice. She is physically and mentally strong, she has a deep voice and is passionate and powerful. Long hair would be nice.
Wardrobe: She will wear a pseudo warrior/goddess outfit, reminiscent of Zena, but a more mature, godmother type style.
Fairygodmother Ruth
Lead / Female / Caucasian / 55 - 70 years
Description: Fairygodmother Ruth is very worried and anxious. She has a New York accent and is reminiscent of a Jewish Grandmother type. She is a bit neurotic and speaks quickly with a high-pitch voice.
Wardrobe: Sweater, pants, conservative jewelery, reading glasses.
