Thanks for checking out my website.

Hi. Thanks for checking out my work and my new website. I was told my one of my professors at SF State, Jenny Lau, to make a video journal after class each day, as an educational tool. So far I have not been able to do it, but I am considering doing a video blog about going to film school. Could be interesting and informative. What do you think? Would you be interested in reading/or watching it? I'm sure it would be humorous, so that would be good.

I just started the MFA in Cinema program at SF State and I will be in it for three years (at least). In our first year, we have to write, produce and edit a five minute film (on 16 mm). It is exciting and also a lot of work. We also have four required classes that each want us to read about 100 pages a night and do assignments for the classes. We are all having a time trying to keep up in our first four weeks of school. We have 14 people in our cohort (the class that starts together), and its a bit like Summer camp, as we have all of our classes together and see each other every day. We have 8 (count em) women and 6 men in our class. Of my four professors, three of them are women. I find this amazing and incredible. For those of you who are not in the film world, you may not realize that this is a bit astounding.

Last night we went to El Rio, in SF for a party that the 2nd years were throwing for the first years, a tradition that they are carrying on. We thought we were supposed to be there at 6:00 pm, so many of us rushed over there. Then, at about 8:30, many of our class had gathered, but we didn't see anyone from the other class. For a while, I really thought that they were hazing us, and that the tradition was to not show up. Later, we found out that they were sitting at another table outside and had not seen us. It was great meeting some of them and hearing about their experience as first years. I heard a great story about a guy who applied to SF State and NYU and was rejected by State and accepted by NYU, which made me feel great. That is proof that our program is not easy to get into.

This weekend I am working on writing the script for the film that I am directing, producing. I am also going to go to the Critical Resistance national conference, which is actually happening in Oakland!!!! Its incredible, like over 20 workshops at one time, all interesting. Check out their website: http://www.criticalresistance.org

That's all for now, and please subscribe to this blog (on the right side of this screen at the top), so you know when I post again. My new website is: http://www.crescentdiamond.tv. Let me know what you think. Email me at: crescentdiamond(at)hotmail.com
